Intermittent Lane Closures on Welch Road Beginning December 23, 2013
December 19th, 2013
The Packard Children’s Expansion Project has reached an exciting milestone and is moving into the structural steel phase of construction. In order to accommodate steel deliveries onto the site, the right hand turn lane on eastbound Welch Road near the Packard Children’s construction site will be closed intermittently beginning Monday, December 23, 2013.
During this time, the remaining lane of traffic on eastbound Welch Road will remain open and will accommodate through traffic in all directions, including right hand turns onto Quarry Road.
As steel deliveries occur, the turn lane will be temporarily blocked to through traffic by traffic delineators, cones, and flagmen. Steel deliveries may occur from 6 am to 6 pm, Monday-Saturday.
The sidewalk adjacent to the Packard Children’s construction site will also be closed beginning December 23rd. During this time, a pedestrian detour will be in place. Hospital employees are encouraged to use the back entrance (badge access only) of Packard Children’s Hospital off of Quarry Road. Bikes may share the road with vehicles while the turn lane is occupied.
