The New Stanford Hospital
Stanford Hospital & Clinics is rebuilding its 1950s-era hospital facilities to accommodate new medical technology, increase capacity needs and meet seismic-safety requirements. The new 824,000 square foot hospital facility will feature 368 individual patient rooms, an enlarged Level-1 trauma center and Emergency Department (nearly three times the size of the current ED) and new surgical, diagnostic and treatment rooms. The new facility will be connected to the current facility by bridge and tunnel.
The rebuild and modernization of Stanford Hospital is the next step in the hospital’s successful 50 year history. The new facilities are leading the way for continued success in providing advanced patient care and treatment to the surrounding communities.
Stanford Hospital & Clinics will remain open and fully operational throughout construction of the new facilities.
Site preparations are under way and the project will officially break ground on May 1, 2013. The new hospital is scheduled to be completed in 2017 and open for operations in early 2018.
